providing Pre-start health and safety reviews (PSR) servicing the province of Ontario.

Safety reviews of machinery are mandatory under the Occupational Health and Safety Act to encourage the mitigation and control of potential hazards in a factory by design, before a piece of equipment, machine or device is constructed, developed, reconstructed, altered or installed.

Regulation 851 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) Section 7 of the Regulations for Industrial Establishments, requires that in certain circumstances an owner or lessee obtain a report signed and sealed by a professional engineer, stating that a particular piece of equipment, machine or device will comply with the act and regulations if it is constructed, developed, reconstructed, altered and installed in accordance with the design drawings, layout and specifications.


JVK has been actively pursuing the possibility of making machinery safe for the workers in Ontario. We are active members of the CSA (Canadian Standards Association) technical committee for the CSA Z142 "Code for Power Press Operation:  Health, Safety, and Guarding Requirements", CSA Z432 "Safeguarding of Machinery", CSA Z434 "Industrial Robots and Robot Systems —General Safety Requirements", and the CSA Z460 “Lockout and Alternate Methods”. In addition we represent Canada at the meetings currently revising the ISO 10218 “Robots for Industrial Environments-Safety Requirements” and the ANSI B11.1 “Safety Requirements for Mechanical Power Presses” .
